Please be aware that your contract with us is on a full time basis, so we will always ensure availability for your child. Fees are expected to be paid at all times when the nursery is open, even if your child is sick, asked to isolate, on holiday or just unable to attend. All fees must be paid on the 1st of every month, or every Monday depending on your agreement. 

Some two-year-olds in the borough can get 570 hours of free early education or childcare per year. It’s usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. However can also be spread across 52 weeks of the year should you wish to do this.

Your two-year-old can get free early education and childcare if you live in England and either:

  • If you're getting benefits

  • income support

  • income-based jobseeker's allowance (not eligible if on contribution-based jobseeker’s allowance)

  • income-related employment and support allowance (not eligible if on contribution-based employment support allowance)​

  • tax credits (with an annual income of under £16,190 before tax)

  • support under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act

  • the guaranteed element of state pension credit

  • universal credit – if you and your partner have a combined income from work of less than £15,400 a year after tax

  • working tax credit four-week run-on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for working tax credit).

Extended 3-4 Year old 30 hour entitlement

The 15 hour universal free childcare is not dependant on your financial or employment circumstances; this is available to ALL 3-4 year olds.

Children are eligible from the term following their 3rd birthday until they reach compulsory school age whether they take up the universal 15 hours or extended 30 hour entitlement.

30 hours funded childcare is intended to support working parents with the cost of childcare.

Designed to enable parents to return to work or to work additional hours. 

30 hours Extended Entitlement Checklist

  • Set up an online Government Gateway account

  • Apply for the extended entitlement here

  • Complete a parent declaration form provided from each childcare provider with your 11 digit code for each child accessing the additional hours.

  • We will then verify eligibility code with Lewisham council.

  • We will confirm a place has been secured for your child (and you will identify provider for universal 15 hours) once code has been verified.

  • Any additional services or hours above entitlement must be agreed for and paid for by you the parent.

  • Parent needs to re-confirm eligibility every 3 months with HMRC.

  • If you fall out of eligibility, you will enter a grace period which will enable access to the funded place until that grace period ends.

  • If you are still not eligible after the grace period, then alternative payment for additional 15 hours must be found by you, the parent.

  • You can re-apply when they become eligible again and give the code to your childcare provider(s).

  • Entitlement will stop once your child is in Reception or at school age.
