Special Educational Needs:
SEN Support
At Chairbears, inclusion is at the heart of our ethos.
We believe every child deserves to feel supported, valued, and celebrated. Our dedicated team works closely with families and practitioners to make sure children with additional needs get the right care and opportunities to thrive.
When to be proactive
Parents may want to seek advise if their child:
-
Has limited or no speech by age 2-3
-
Struggles with interaction, eye contact, or forming relationships
-
Has difficulty with movement, coordination, or balance
-
Appears unusually withdrawn, distressed or unable to regulate emotions
-
Does not consistently respond to their name, sounds or voices
If you’re unsure, speak to your child’s key person or the nursery manager.
Early identification and support can make a big difference.

Our SEN support
-
Early identification of needs through close observation and partnership with parents
-
Tailored support strategies to meet each child’s unique requirements
-
Collaboration with external professionals (speech and language therapists, health visitors etc) where needed
-
Individual learning plans to track progress and celebrate achievements
-
A compassionate, understanding team who value every child’s voice.
Accessing Funding
& Support
Some children with additional needs may be entitled to extra financial support to help with their learning journey. We can guide families through:
-
Early Years SEND Inclusion Funding - support provided by the local authority to help nurseries offer tailored interventions
-
Disability Access Fund (DAF) - Available for children aged 3-4 years who receive Disability Living Allowance
-
Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs) - longer-term support plans that outline a child’s specific needs and the provision required
-
Universal & Extended Funded Hours - which can still be accessed alongside SEN support
